Answer to Question 3 Jacob Laney

Jacob Laney

I would like to compare Alexander the Great to Adolf Hitler. Hitler like Alexander was a military genius. They moved swiftly through near countries and conquered massive amounts of land in just a matter of years. They both had visions of conquering the entire world. Unlike Alexander though Hitler had an idea of a perfect race and persecuted everyone unlike that idea. Alexander adopted cultures of his conquered people. They were both well liked individuals (Hitler was in the beginning of his rule). Hitler was Times 1938 man of the year. Alexander was loved by his people and in some countries was looked at as a liberator. They both had manic personalities and were extremely paranoid. Their paranoia led both of them to murder and order the murders of several people. Towards the end of their life the both developed mental disorders and were no longer sane. They both were very conceded people. They worshiped themselves as gods and many people thought of them as that. Alexander and Hitler were alike in many ways. They were “Great” military leaders, but they were terrible people. “Great” does deserve to be at the end of Alexander’s title but solely because of his military accomplishments.

  1. I really liked what you said in this paragraph because I completely agree with the opinion of that Alexander was not all that "great". I wrote about a different historical figure but had the same general idea. Alexander should not have this title just because of his military achievements alone, because without that he is not such a "great" person.
